Qigong is what

Qi Gong means “work on the life energy” and is a system from different physiotherapist, breathing therapist and meditative exercises.

The goal is the life energy “Qi” to harmonize the body to maintain health and protect, or even eliminate diseases and inconsistencies in the flow of qi. A 3000 year old Chinese gymnastics (basis of Tai Chi), for the simple, relaxing, some meditative breathing exercises with the individual right to be combined. To increase the life energy (Chi or Qi) in humans. Increasement of vitality, vigor and inner peace. Many diseases can be prevented or their progress will be positively affected. Examples: cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, asthma, allergies, musculoskeletal diseases, infectious diseases, constipation and incontinence, stress, fatigue, headaches, depression, insomnia, metabolic diseases, etc. Built on the basic exercises such as breathing and standing exercises, as well as a mental training works, meditation, relaxation and increases concentration and performance. Qi Gong is also seen as preparation for higher meditation techniques.

The gentle exercises of the Chinese healing and relaxation method of Qi Gong include simple methods we can use specifically to us regularly every day to relax for a few minutes. We learn to reduce any kind of personal stress and to put ourselves in a pleasant learning and working condition. The investment in learning and practicing the 'entering into the peace and quiet, “Bring a multiple gain in quality of life, health, intellectual and psychological growth. Qi Gong literally means from the Chinese: 'Working with' Qi 'or' work at the Qi '. Qi can be understood as a life force or vital energy, Gong means work, method or skilful ability.

Taking simple basic exercise forms of Qi Gong in sitting or standing, so falls mainly two aspects in the eye, which are trained over and over without a step forward to the higher levels of Qi Gong. Relaxation of body and mind
from the silence state, we find the proper access to the original life force. Only in the stillness, the body can regenerate from scratch and then can Qi and blood flow through the body.

The experience of mental “Go in peace” and see the emptiness itself in the “Book of the Yellow Emperor,” which is the oldest work of the Chinese medicine theory from the first century AD. It reads: “to be completely empty, then comes the true Qi. Where the mind is kept inside, can cause no disease.” In another text states that “happiness and blessings gather where silence reigns. “Letting go and sinking into the lower abdomen. In the lower part of the body according to the Chinese notion of the 'primary Qi '(Yuan Qi) at home.” It needs to be preserved there. Therefore, it leads to the chi again and again to the lower abdomen, the back Dantian. This important energy depot, without borders, is to be cultivated and nurtured by repeatedly practicing. It is located a few inches below the navel and a few inches in the lower abdomen. A fundamental requirement of Qi Gong exercises will therefore be “empty top, solid bottom, the qi sinks to the Dantian; Qi returns to its source, and the breath returns to its’ roots. “It distracts his imagination while practicing down and acquired by patient practice strength and fullness in the lower body, then has plenty of strength and inner Qi and is like a tree with strong roots. While practicing is to the body above the navel at the same time feel 'empty', it is to enter a feeling of lightness, emptiness and inner flexibility, especially in the chest and shoulders.

Movment and intelligence

Can we be smarter by movement? The good news is: Yes, we can! Amazing insights we owe to Prof. Dr. Wildor Hollmann here, the doyen of German sports medicine and today's honorary president of the World Federation of Sports Medicine. In a very intensive study, Prof. Dr. Hollmann tested a large collective of older people with an average age of 60. These were consistently people, who had previously never moved too much and it was not difficult to find such.

Hollmann divided the group into three subgroups. The first group served as a control and had no particular task. The second group was given a task to carry out 30 minutes daily for a year special memory exercises. The third group had to carry out a 30-minute brisk walk each day.

The follow-up after one year showed: The control group had lost an average of around four per cent memory. So it seems to be at that age a year to lose if we do not actively control it. The group, which completed the memory training possessed, on average, improved memory by 20 percent. Finally, the movement group was the stunning revelation that enjoyed a 40 percent improvement in memory performance. The explanation: The movement of the legs or the body improves the neutral network in the brain. This refers to the information highway that is linked to our brain cells. About this dendritric communicates the brain cells.

Previously it was believed that intelligent people have more gray matter, or would more convolutions, ie surface of the brain. Today we know that is not true! Not more than a third of our brain cells are used, the rest lay broken. Not the number of brain cells is crucial, but the degree of cross-linking. And just this networking can improve it, no matter how old you are. In the jargon this is called the plasticity, ie the variability of the brain. The movement of the legs and upright posture for quadrupeds is still has a huge challenge to the brain in order to cope with this seemingly simple task. Movement of any kind is thus the key stimulus for the networking of our brain cells.

Concert pianists know this: The often contradictory movement of the hands is so complicated for the brain, it grows steadily at his task. Therefore, the age of dementia in active pianist is largely unknown. Again, as in the whole human body, the medical principle: Use it or lose it!

So it is important to constantly spur the brain on new motion stimuli. If the right-handed one time will with the left-hand butter the bread or brush your teeth, then this seemingly small change is already an effective incentive to link new brain cells. If you like, your brain can jump of course with the help of a very professional training program.

What is Arnis

Arnis, Kali and Eskrima are generic terms for the Filipino martial arts.

Since the Philippines consist of about 7700 islands, it is stated in their history that they were permanently at war. Thus, there are a variety of martial arts and fighting styles developed. As different as these styles of attack and defense due to their geographic origin were also separated, they did have one thing in common – their effectiveness. Arnis recasts many of these styles, a weapon based on the system. Only weapons? Well, there are many martial arts weapons, which also apply in their training program, such as Kung Fu and Karate. So what is different in Arnis? While in the Kung Fu unarmed techniques are initially taught, and later the use of weapons taught to the advanced students only in, you go in the opposite direction with Arnis.

The student learns from the beginning to deal with the stick, since it is always easier to defend him-self with a gun than without one. This principle is now also in training. Often one encounters the argument that one has no stick there when he needed it. Whoever trains in Arnis soon discovers that the stick techniques can also be applied also, as the underlying principle is the decisive factor. We assume that the weapons are merely an extension of our body and with “no stick”; we use the principle to our hands. As is learned in the handling of Arnis stick, knife, sword and various other weapons and items, one is prepared in an emergency to a defense against these weapons well. How does one defend them-selves against something that you do not know? In addition, the extensive weapons training in Arnis enables students in a position to effectively incorporate any everyday object in its self-defense, whether it is a rolled-up newspaper, a scarf, a pen or an umbrella that plays no role. This versatility Arnis is also an ideal complement to other martial arts.

What does Arnis bring me?

Fascinating insights into various Southeast Asian martial arts * Controls motor skills to use and effective use * Situation assessment through active reaction training * Faster responsiveness by dynamic reaction training * More self-confidence by realistic self-defense techniques * The ability to effectively use in an emergency action, and defense * Controlled handling with Hitting / Stabbing weapons and of everyday objects * Increase the fitness in a very varied way * Motivation and training in a group

The Defense and Control Techniques (DEF-CON-TEC) program is a collaboration of various martial arts comprised of Wing Chun, Arnis, Aikido, and ground combat designed to provide the user with a well rounded approach to a potential lethal encounter. DEF-CON-TEC was specifically created for personnel in the military, security agencies, protective services, government facilities, and all departments of police enforcement.

The training in DEF-CON-TEC is fluid and adaptable to a customer’s specifications/needs and fits current tactics used by the various government, police and military agencies. The technical aspect of the program adjusts to the standard equipment (i.e. weapons, gear, communication devices) used in routine activities and does not require physical strength or lengthy amount of time to learn.
